Box Score CHENEY, Washington – The University of Idaho men's tennis defeated Eastern Washington, 6-1, on Friday to open Big Sky play. The Vandals improved to 5-4 overall on the season and 1-0 in Big Sky play with the match win.
To begin,
Matteo Masala and
Alex Asenov earned a win in the No. 2 doubles spot, 6-2, giving the Vandals an early advantage.
In the No. 1 spot Francisco Bacon and
Bruno Casino defeated the Eagles 6-2, securing the doubles point.
Adam Taylor and
Alejandro Salvador Civera added a win in the No. 3 spot, 7-5.
In singles play the Vandals won five of six matches.
Salvador recorded the first singles point for Idaho, winning 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot.
Vivek Ramesh put the Vandals up 3-0 in the match, winning 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 5 spot.
Casino cliched the match win for the Vandals earning the fourth point with a 6-2, 6-4, win in No. 3 singles.
Bascon and Masala each added a singles win helping the Vandals to six points. Bascon earned the 3-6, 6-1, 10-6, win in the No. 1 spot, while Masala won 4-6, 6-4, 10-2, in No. 2 singles.
Eastern Washington's only point of the match came in No. 6 singles.
