FARMINGTON, Utah—For the fourth time this season  Francisco Bascon  has earned the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honor as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. 
 
This is the fourth Player of the Week award for Bascon, in his second year with the Vandals. He earned the award for the second consecutive week after receiving the nod last week.   
 
Bascon competed in one match last week for the Vandals, all in the No. 1 spot, earning two wins. 
 
The Corboba, Spain native opened the lone match last week with a 6-4, No. 1 doubles win against Portland State alongside his partner Bruno Casino. The duo finished 4-0 in conference play and have won four straight doubles matches.    
 
In singles play, Bascon battled with the Vikings' Matteo Fortini in No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-7, 6-3, clinching the match-winning point. With the match win the Vandals finished conference play at 3-1, claiming the North Division title and earning a No. 1 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. The win also handed Portland State their first Big Sky loss of the season.  

Bascon, the second-year freshman, finished the regular season 9-3 in singles play, all from the No. 1 spot, and 4-0 in Big Sky matches. In addition, he was 7-5 overall in doubles play combined with his partners Casino and Matteo Masala, all from the No. 1 spot.   
 
Bascon and the Vandals will travel to Phoenix, Arizona next week for the Big Sky Tournament beginning on May 1. Idaho will take on the No. 2 seed from the South Division in the semifinals.
