Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – The University of Idaho women's tennis team narrowly fell to the Portland State Vikings, 4-3, on Friday.
The Vikings earned the doubles point, winning all three matches.
Idaho responded in singles play winning three matches, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 1-0 deficit.
The Vandals fell behind 3-0 once singles play began, dropping matches in the No. 2 and No. 4 spots.
Melissa Huchet recorded a win at the No. 1 spot, 7-6, 6-1, giving the Vandals their first point of the match.
Katherine Jhang followed up Huchet's win with her own, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, in the No. 3 spot.
Marta Magalhaes continued the comeback bid for the Vandals, tying the match 3-3 overall with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 win in the No. 5 spot.
In the No. 6 spot the Viking were victorious, earning the match-clinching point.
