Dedmon, Sbrega Earn Vandals of the Week

MOSCOW, Idaho – Tyrese Dedmon of football and Hadley Sbrega from women's soccer have been named this week's Vandals of the Week for their exceptional work in the classroom.

Dedmon just completed his fourth season with the Vandals and is graduating this semester with a degree in marketing. After graduation, Dedmon will pursue a master's degree at Idaho while returning for a fifth football season in the fall.

"After graduation, actually the next day, I will be starting my master's course in public administration," said Dedmon. "So, I'm pretty excited about that."

Sbrega, just completed her fourth season with the Vandals and will graduate with a degree in management with a focus in human resources. She has earned a 3.81 cumulative GPA at Idaho.

"I would say my favorite class I've taken at Idaho would be my marketing and pricing class with Professor Albertson," said Sbrega. "That was the class where I got the most real-world experience, and he was probably my favorite professor."

Both acknowledge that what they have learned on the field has helped translate into success in the classroom.

"I would say that the level of hard work you put in transfers from the field to the classroom," said Sbrega. "If you want to do good, you can always do good if you work hard. Your professors are always there to help you and if you go to them for help, they will help you."

"Discipline. Just being able to go day in and day out continuing to try and be your best self on the field and in the classroom," said Dedmon. "We all have goals and there's a lot of distractions for college students…just being disciplined and staying the course is important."

As always, the recognition for the hard work in the classroom was greatly appreciated.

"I think it's awesome getting recognized for the academic side of things," said Sbrega. "It's really an honor. The main reason we are here is to get a degree and I think it's great to be recognized for all the hard work I've put in these last four years."

"It's huge," said Dedmon. "We put in so much work with our academics. I am always working, so to be recognized just shows that hard work never goes unnoticed. Somebody notices you out there, so just keep working."
