MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men's basketball has announced the signing of JeMeil King, a transfer from Bellevue University.
"We are very fortunate to add someone of JeMeil's talent and success to our program. We are confident that his skillset and competitiveness will be a positive addition for Idaho basketball," said head coach
Zac Claus. "JeMeil helped lead Bellevue to 44 wins in the past two years while he thrived under Coach Lucas Gabriel and he also recently earned his degree. Today is a good day for Vandal basketball."
King is a 6-5 guard from Oakland, California. During the 2020-21 season, he started 33 games for Bellevue University, scoring 14.2 points per game to lead the squad. He also dished out a team high 3.3 assists per game and pulled down 3.1 rebounds per game. He earned First Team All-NSAA for his play and the Bruins finished the season 20-14 overall.
In his first year with the Bruins, King led the team in both scoring (15.9 ppg), rebounding (5.1 rpg), and assists (5.2 apg) while starting 30 games. He earned Second Team NAIA All-American accolades as well as being named the NSAA Most Valuable Player, NSAA Newcomer of the Year, and a member of the All-NSAA First Team. The team finished the year 24-8 and 13-1 in conference play.
Prior to BU, King spent two seasons at Modesto Junior College where he led the team to a 20-8 record and their first playoff berth since 2001. He was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-STLB NorCal.
King played for Blue Ridge Prep in St. George, Va. after graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco, Calif. He led Abraham Lincoln HS to a pair of state championships.
King is the son of Laquisha Wiltz and Bernard King.
