A native of Montijo, Portugal, Ines Oliveira makes her way to Moscow following in the footsteps of a former Vandal and close friend of hers, Marta Magalhaes. Oliveira was highly successful in her home country of Portugal, earning regional championships at all age levels in the Lisbon district. She also went on to represent Portugal five times in the European Championships at the junior level. Oliveira is majoring in business at the University of Idaho and enjoys listening to music and playing soccer in her free time.
Where are you from and what do you like best about your hometown?
I am from Montijo, Portugal. What I like the most about my hometown is definitely the food.Â
What drew you to Idaho?
I had an old friend that was a former player here at Idaho, Marta Magalhaes, tell me about the school. She told me about the team and the environment, and it felt right.Â
What is your favorite memory of playing tennis?
When I won my first WTA point in Portugal.Â
What is the hardest thing about tennis?Â
Dealing with frustration when things aren't going my way.
Do you have any personal goals for this upcoming season?
I want to improve some things in my tennis game and win the conference as a team.Â

Lionel Messi because I really admire him and he is my favorite soccer player.Â
