Reigning Big Sky Champions Set 2023 Spring Schedule

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho men's tennis head coach Daniel Hangstefer announced the Vandals' 2023 spring schedule on Friday.

The reigning Big Sky Champions will look to make another run at a conference championship in 2023, as the squad returns all nine student-athletes from a year ago and adds Japanese newcomer Taiyo Kurata.

The Vandals will open their 20-match season at home on Jan. 29 against Seattle U on the newly installed courts inside the Kibbie Dome.

Idaho's next three matches will be comprised of regional matchups on the road and at home. The Vandals will travel to Spokane to play Gonzaga on Feb. 4 and then head down south to face in-state rival Boise State on Feb. 10. An earlier than usual conference match will take place on Feb. 12 when Eastern Washington comes to Moscow.

The next two weeks will feature seven road matches. The Vandals will head to Denver for two competitions against Utah State (Feb. 18) and the University of Denver (Feb. 19) before the team travels to Arizona to soak up the sun at the Arizona State 8-Team Invite for three matches (Feb. 24-26) in Tempe. Two more matches in Colorado Springs will finish out the road trip, as the Vandals will take on Air Force (Mar. 2) and Tennessee State (Mar. 3).

After their time away from Moscow, Idaho will come home for a two-game homestand against North Dakota (Mar. 17) and Lewis-Clark State College (Mar. 18) at the Kibbie Dome.

The Vandals will wrap up the month of March with a match at Idaho State on Mar. 26 in Pocatello before the team will play Northern Arizona in Lewiston on Apr. 2.

A three-match road trip will follow as Idaho will travel to face Montana (Apr. 7), Montana State (Apr. 9) and Sacramento State (Apr. 15) over a nine-day period. The conclusion of the regular season will happen in Lewiston when the Vandals host Portland State on Apr. 21 and Weber State on Apr. 22.

The top six teams in the conference will be invited to compete at the Big Sky Championships in Phoenix for a four-day tournament taking place Apr. 27-30.
