LEWISTON, Idaho — The Idaho women's tennis team earned their first win of the spring season, defeating Whitman College on Sunday afternoon at the LCSC Tennis Courts. 

The Vandals won all three doubles matches and earned five out of six match wins in singles play to clinch a 6-1 victory. 

Ke Syuan Jhang and Ines Oliveira took care of business in the No. 1 spot, earning a victory over Angel Le and Arianna Castellanos, 6-4. In the No. 2 position, Melissa Huchet and Jayanne Palma swept Irene Tsai and Ilina Jha 6-0 while Andrea Redondo and Saffron Dowse earned a 6-1 win over Grace Carter and Camilla Tarpey-Schwed.

Jhang defeated Castellanos 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles while Redondo recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jha in the No. 3 spot. 

Dowse added a win in the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-3, defeating Erica Mock. 

Palma defeated Irene Bai, 6-1, 6-2 while Nicole Horacek clinched the match win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Tarpey-Schwed. 

NEXT UP: The Vandals return to action on Feb. 19 against Gonzaga on the road. The match gets started at 4 p.m.
