MESA, Ariz. – The Idaho men's tennis team (4-7), fell to Penn State (7-6) on Saturday at Kiwanis Tennis Center.

The Nittany Lions earned the opening doubles point by winning at No. 1 and 2 positions. Bruno Casino and Francisco Bascon dropped their match to Malik Bhatnagar and Charl Morgan, 6-2 while partners Matteo Masala and Alex Asenov fell 6-4 to Bora Sengul and Alexander Karman. 

In singles play, Penn State started off with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Vivek Ramesh at the No. 6 spot. 

Mario Duron Garza got Idaho on the scoreboard after defeating Sam Bossem in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. The No. 1 and 4 singles positions for the Nittany Lions captured back the momentum by clinching the match victory.

Casino held a one-set advantage over Sengul, grabbing the first set 7-6 and leading 2-1 before the match went unfinished at No. 3 singles. In the No. 2 singles match, Bascon dropped the first set 7-5 and led 4-3 in the second before the match was called. 

NEXT UP: The Vandals round out their weekend for the final day at the ASU spring break tournament tomorrow, as they get set to face Michigan State at 10 a.m.
