BANDON, Ore. – Idaho men's golf hosts 14 teams, including five power-five schools and two military academies at the Bandon Dunes Championship, played on Sheep Ranch, Golf Digest's best new course of 2020.
The course will play shorter than most college championship courses at 6,738 yards but will not be easy by any means. Consistent coastal winds and large undulating greens will add to the difficulty. Eight green are placed directly on the bluff over the rocky Oregon coastline providing stunning beauty and placing a premium on accuracy.
The field will be equally difficult. Kansas enters the tournament ranked ninth in the nation, Oregon (30) and Utah (42) are also in the top 50.
Kansas' Luke Kluver is ranked 22nd in the nation and two other Jayhawks are ranked in the top-100.
The Vandals bring seven to the field.
Colt Sherrell,
Jose Suryadinata,
Tommy McKenzie,
T.J. Patterson and
Jack Plaster will score for the Vandals in the five-score-four tournament.
Matt McGann and
Joel Veenstra will compete as individuals.
Idaho comes into the tournament after one spring competition to date, a fifth-place finish at The Joust hosted by California Baptist.
The 15-team field begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday with 18-holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
A live leaderboard will be available on
