MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal golfer Jose Suryadinata was granted an amateur exemption to play in the Mandiri Indonesia Open scheduled for August 4-7 at the Pondok Indah Golf Course in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
The tournament is a stop on the Asian Tour. Suryadinata from Surabaya, Indonesia, earned an exemption to the open as one of the top amateurs in Indonesia. It is an opportunity to represent Vandal Golf on the international stage and compete against the best professionals in his home national open.
"I am very excited to have this opportunity to compete with my fellow countrymen," Suryadinata said. "This is an opportunity that doesn't come very often. I will give everything I have every day on the course to play my best."
The tournament returns after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is one of two stops on the Asian Tour.
While Suryadinata has competed in big tournaments in the past, this will be the first on a tour event and the first where he will represent Idaho golf.
"This will be the first time I get a chance to represent Vandal Golf on the professional, international stage," Suryadinata said. "I am determined to showcase the quality of a Vandal Golfer to the Asian Tour."
Pondok Indah is Indonesia's home of Championship golf, the traditional home of the Indonesia Open, it also hosted the 1983 World Cup of Golf.
Tee times and coverage information will be available as the tournament approaches.
