MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women's basketball guard Jordan Allred and men's basketball guard RJ Walker have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
Allred is a sophomore on the Idaho women's basketball team. The Martinez, California native is majoring in business and economics and has plans following her basketball career to stay involved in sports.
"My plans after college aren't quite set because I don't know exactly what I want to do but I know I want to own a business one day," Allred said. "Maybe it will have to do something with sports just because I've grown up around it my whole life."
Allred has other interests including taking care of her pet cat, Handsome. She also has a side hobby of collecting various items of interest.
"This semester I'm excited for any goals I have set for the new year, like getting out of my comfort zone and growing as a person!"
Walker is a redshirt freshman on the Vandal men's basketball team. The Decatur, Illinois native is studying both Business and Recreation, Sports, Tourism, and Management here are the University of Idaho.
"I know there is a lot of opportunity when you have a business major," Walker stated. "My dad owns a couple of businesses back home so it could lead to a good opportunity for me and I can expand with him one day.
"If that falls through, I would like to stay involved with sports, whether that is coaching or working in physical therapy."
When Walker is in his hometown of Decatur he enjoys working with local kids as they develop their basketball skills. He also has a hobby of collecting shoes and enjoys the occasional binge of a Netflix show.
