Vandal Soccer Falls to Montana 2-0

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho soccer lost their first conference match of the season to Montana, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.

The Vandals seemed to have all the ambition, but none of the luck in today's loss. Idaho out-shot Montana 17-11 with eight shots on goal to Montana's six. The Griz brought the physicality, recording 11 fouls.

Montana scored back-to-back goals in almost identical setups. The Griz attacked the left side and found Delaney Lou Schorr's head both times. Up until that moment, it was the only two shots on goal that the Griz had all half.

The Vandals did not let up the pressure and fought for an equalizer in the remainder of the half. Hannah Alfaro and Margo Schoesler fired off shots from a distance but were just shy of the goal both times.

In the second half, Idaho thought they had cut the deficit in half after a header from Jayd Sprague seemed to cross the goal line. The officials ruled it no goal in the moment and without replay, the call stood. The Vandals continued to fight, but 90 minutes was not enough for the comeback effort.

Idaho will be back in action on the road at Portland State and Sacramento State this weekend Thursday and Sunday.
