BANDON, Ore. – Joe Sykes battled through blustery conditions to finish two-over 74 and tie for eighth place after one round of the Bandon Dunes Championship on the original Bandon Dunes Course, Sunday.
Sykes finished with two birdies on the round, including the par-four seventh and the par-five 18th.
The Vandals are 13th in the field of 18 but are just four strokes out of seventh place.
Jose Suryadinata is second for the Vandals and tied for 36th with a score of 77.
Sam Johnson is tied for 59th after hitting a 79m
Colt Sherrell is tied for 66th after recording a first-round score of 80.
Tommy McKenzie is tied for 92nd with a score of 83 to close out the starting lineup.
TJ Patterson (78),
Matt McGann 82 and
Johannes Hounsgaard 84 competed as individuals for the Vandals.
The tournament continues tomorrow with a shot gun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Weather appears like it might be an issue tomorrow with heavy rain in the forecast for the morning.
