Box Score 2 USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Idaho men's tennis team (5-6, 1-0 BSC) went 1-1 to wrap up a seven-match road stretch. The Vandals fell to Air Force (10-1) 4-3 on Thursday night before earning a 5-2 win over Chicago State (0-11) Friday.
Idaho vs. Air Force
Starting doubles play, the Falcons took two out of three matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Duo
Francisco Gay and
Mario Duron were the lone pair to earn a victory for Idaho, earning a 6-4 win on court three over Air Force's Jonathan Mascagni and Kyle Garner.
Singles action played out with Idaho earning three wins on courts one, five and six.
Francisco Bascon put the Vandals on the board with another dominant two-set victory at No. 1 defeating Nick Vroman 6-4, 6-4. With the score tied at 1-1, Air Force would capture the next three points to clinch their ninth dual win.
Taiyo Kurata and Duron played out their respective matches and did so with a pair of come-from-behind victories. Duron secured a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 win over Jack Brown at No. 6 before Kurata followed with a comeback victory against his opponent, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 to close out the day and give the Vandals their third point.
Idaho vs. Chicago State
The Vandals opened doubles play securing a 1-0 advantage on courts two and three.
Francisco Gay and
Taiyo Kurata took care of business against their opponent with a 6-0 sweep before
Mario Duron and
Vivek Ramesh followed with a 6-3 result to clinch doubles.
Idaho's success carried over from doubles to singles, as they earned four singles wins en route to a 5-2 match victory.
On court one,
Francisco Bascon cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Pedro Alvarez to secure his eighth singles win of the spring season. The third point for the Vandals came on court three, where
Bruno Casino posted a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Kurata and Duron both finished out their weekends a perfect 2-0 in singles action. Kurata won 6-2, 6-1 over Rodrigo Alves on court four before Duron was victorious against Arhaan Pahwa 6-2, 6-4 to wrap up play in Colorado Springs.
