USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Idaho women's tennis posted a strong showing at the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains this weekend. The Vandals had three individuals -
Annabel Davis,
Diana Khaydarshina and
Selin Sepken win their respective consolation brackets en route to a successful weekend in Colorado.
Davis, an All-Big Sky honoree a season ago, started her fall season with a 4-1 record in singles play. Davis earned a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win over University of New Mexico's Sarah O'Connor in the consolation semifinals before taking home the title by way of withdrawal over Lorelyz Marruffo of Boise State.
Khaydarshina was a bright spot for the Vandals in the Bravo Singles Draw, earning four wins in the consolation bracket in her first career collegiate tournament. She recorded a 1-6, 6-4 (10-8) come-from-behind win over Hsuan Huang from the University of New Mexico to win the consolation title.
Sepken delivered another solid showing at this year's tournament, earning four victories in the Delta Singles Draw. She posted a 6-1, 6-4 result in the finals over Laura Eugenio de Hilario of Utah State.
Idaho also received strong performances from senior
Saffron Dowse and sophomore
Lena Beckx. Dowse posted a 3-2 singles record while Beckx went 2-2.
Up next, the Vandals gear up for a three-day event at Eastern Washington and Oregon, Oct. 6-8.
