FARMINGTON, Utah – Alyssa Peters was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week following assists in back-to-back games against Weber State and Idaho State. This is Peters' first Player of the Week honor of her career.

Peters' assists came at the right time, creating the game-equalizer against Weber State and the game-winner at Idaho State. If Peters is on the field, she is the one to step up and take every corner kick, and rightfully so. Both assists came from the corner arc and were beautifully dropped into the danger zone. Peters set up Hannah Alfaro in the 74th minute against Weber State to level the score 1-1 after trailing for ten minutes. The breakthrough goal against Idaho State came much earlier, in the eighth minute as Jayd Sprague headed in Peters' cross. The Peters-to-Sprague connection from the corner has been successful three times this season, two of which were game-winners.

Peters has been essential in the Vandal offense, assisting on seven goals this season. Out of the past six games, she has assisted on at least one goal in five of the matches. Peters ranks tied for second all-time at Idaho in career assists, trailing behind Megan Cummings (1998-01) with 22. She is one assist away from breaking into the top-10 in Big Sky Conference individual career history.

Peters leads the conference in assists per game (0.70) and total assists (7). She ranks No. 10 in the NCAA in assists per game and No. 8 in total assists.

Peters has started every game for the Vandals since 2021 and has 57 caps under her belt. The outside defender has helped the back line post four shutouts and limit their opponents to only eight goals this season.

Peters and the Vandals will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they host Montana in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome at 1:00 p.m.
