Stahl, Fedel Named February Student-Athletes of the Month

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho's student-athletes, Emma Stahl and Simone Fedel, have been named the Vandal Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month supported by P1FCU.

Stahl hails from Fort Collins, CO, and competes on the women's swim & dive team while pursuing a double major in psychology and criminology. She has received All-WAC academic honors three years in a row while being actively involved in the community.

"Emma is one of the kindest and smartest people I know," said Dani Hippe. "She is always looking out for others and wants to help people. She will go far in life. Looking forward to see where she ends up!"

As a double major, Stahl is committed to her academics and thrives in the classroom with help from the resources provided by the academic center. "My academic advisor, Dani, has been my greatest resource in pursuing a double major, ensuring that I am taking the classes needed while also helping me create a plan to succeed," said Stahl. "She has also helped me explore opportunities following my graduation and is always a good sounding board for my ideas and questions. The study hall has also provided a quiet place to be productive with my studies." As for the future, she hopes to remain in the classroom and further her education. "I am exploring getting a master's degree and being a graduate assistant after graduation."

Fedel is on the track & field team competing in the long jump and triple jump. The Casalino, Italy native is in his master's program and was nominated for the hard work and commitment he exhibits in the classroom.

"Simone is a terrific individual who moved to Moscow, Idaho from Casalino, Italy to jump on our Men's Track team," said Thad Hathaway. "Since he has arrived, he has worked tirelessly in the classroom and on the track to achieve high levels in both areas. Excited for this Vandal's future!"

Fedel attributes his success to the support he has received from student-athlete academic services. "The student-athlete academic center was essential because it gave me the space and equipment to excel as a student and adapt to this new lifestyle," said Fidel. As a master's student boasting a 3.85 GPA while competing, he understands the value of balancing his priorities. "Time management is what permits me to balance school and track. I think it is a fundamental skill that simplifies everything."
