MOSCOW, Idaho — The Vandal soccer team will travel to Reno to take on Nevada on September 12th at 7:00 p.m. PT before hosting Utah Tech in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome on Sunday, September 15th at 1 p.m. PT.
ABOUT IDAHO
Idaho soccer capped off their weekend 1-1 after hosting UC San Diego on Thursday and traveling in-state to Boise on Sunday afternoon. The Vandals defeated the Tritons, 2-1 on Thursday with a two-goal performance by
Margo Schoesler.
On Sunday, Idaho fell to the Boise State Broncos, 3-1. The Vandals' lone goal was scored early in the game by
Maddy Lasher, assisted by
Annika Farley. The assist from Farley was a lobbed cross into the 18-yard box for Lasher to secure her 14
th career goal. Lasher is now No. 8 all-time for scoring in the Vandal record books. After this weekend's performance, Idaho's overall record improved, 4-3-0.
ABOUT NEVADA
The Wolves enter their week with a record of 2-3-0 coming off a 4-1 loss to California Berkley. Nevada's only goal was scored by fifth-year, Lauren Muff at the start of the second half.
The Wolves started their season strong with two back-to-back wins against Kansas State (2-1) and Southern Utah (2-1). Their record began to take a hit after three consecutive losses to Cal State Fullerton (5-1), UC San Diego (3-0), and California Berkley.
The last time Idaho and Nevada went head-to-head was during the 2023 season which ended in a tie, 1-1. The current record between the two teams sits at 7-6-1 in favor of the Vandals.
ABOUT UTAH TECH
The Trailblazers are coming off a split win-loss weekend with a win over Northern Arizona (2-1) and a loss to Arizona State (1-2). Both goals against NAU were scored late in the second half by Lacy Fox and Lataya Brost.
The Blazers had a tough battle against the Sun Devils that would have resulted in a tie if not for a Sun Devil goal in the last 25 seconds. Utah Tech's only goal of the match was scored by Emily Garbett looking for an equalizer with five minutes left in the game.
It was an extremely close game the last time the Vandals and Trailblazers faced off with few goal attempts and many back-and-forth possessions. The scoreboard read 1-0 in favor of the Vandals thanks to a goal from
Kylie Hummel in the 77
th minute.
