OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho volleyball team fell in three sets to Weber State, 12-25, 16-25, 16-25 on Saturday afternoon in Swenson Gym.
Zuzanna Wieczorek had eight kills and four digs while
Chiara Gennari added six kills and four digs.
Weber State won the first set, 25-12. Idaho struggled to ignite the offense, posting eight kills, one ace, and one block in the set. Despite scoring the opening two points, Idaho allowed Weber State to use a 6-0 run to follow and a 6-1 spurt to end the frame.
The Wildcats took the second set, 25-16. Idaho allowed the Weber State attack to hit .419 and post 17 kills en route to earning a second-set win.
Weber completed the sweep with a 25-16 win in the third set. The Vandals traded leads with the Wildcats to open the set as the score sat tied at 6-6. WSU found breathing room behind another 6-1 run to make it 12-7. Idaho immediately responded with a run of their own, scoring six straight points to retake the lead. The Vandals couldn't maintain their momentum, as errors sparked the Wildcats and allowed the home team to score 13 of the final 16 points to secure the victory.
The Vandals return to Moscow to host Eastern Washington during homecoming week on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.
