MOSCOW, Idaho- After a tight competition in Greeley where Idaho Swim and Dive went head-to-head with Northern Colorado, the swimmers will return to action much closer to home, splitting up and taking a handful of the distance swimmers to Long Beach for the MPSF Open Water Championships and more of the squad to Seattle for another dual meet with Seattle U, both on Saturday, Oct. 18.

MPSF OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS
Idaho fans can anticipate MPSF meets becoming a staple each year since the team officially the joined the conference in time for this season. Ginger Kiefer finished with the best time of the 45 swimmers in the event with a 5K time of 1:05:36.00 in Marine Stadium. She will return to Long Beach alongside Ava Langston, Sienna Lefeber, Holly Lenarz, Marie Mason, Bethany Rahn, and Gabriella Stanton, all of whom but Stanton competed in the same race in 2024.

With her best-overall time in the conference meet last season, Kiefer earned an automatic bid to the USA Open Water National Championships in April, a feat she and her fellow Vandals will look to replicate.

SEATTLE U
The same day, more of Idaho's swimmers will travel to Seattle, WA, for a swim-only dual meet with Seattle U in the Redhawk Center. The women's team for the Redhawks is coming off of their season opener, a three-team competition with Pacific and UC Santa Barbara, where they finished in third place. 

The Vandals have competed with the Redhawks annually since 2012 and are a perfect 12-0 in that span. The last three matchups in particular have featured UI scoring at least 200 points and holding SU to single-digit scoring.  

Results will be available for both meets following their conclusion.
