MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Vandal head golf coach Julia Goodson announced the signing of two international players for her 2026 recruiting class, Wednesday.
 
Icelandic native Fjóla Margrét Viðarsdóttir and Taiwan native Amber Tang-Hsin Hou will join the program in the fall of 2026.
 
Viðarsdóttir (pronounced Vie-ers-daughter) is a five-time national champion, winning the Icelandic Junior Stroke Play Championship in 2021 and 2025 and the Icelandic Junior Match Play Championship in 2021, 2022 and 2025.
 
She finished second in the adult National Match Play Championship this summer. She owns the course record at Golfklúbbur Suðurnesja. She was picked to play for the Icelandic National team and played at the European Club Team Championship in 2025.
 
"I am very excited for Fjola to join the Vandals next fall," Goodson said. "As a member of the Icelandic girls national team she brings great experience and has familiarity with practicing in northern weather conditions. She is a hard worker on the golf course and in the classroom so I know she will be a great addition to this team and the Vandal family!"
 
She graduated as valedictorian of her school and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.
 
Hou joins the Vandals from Taipei where she was a prep and junior star. She finished third at the 2023 National Senior High Championship. She finished second at the FCG Girls College Showcase and second at the Future Star Winter Championship and third at the 2024 Series Fall Championship.
 
She is also an honor student with a 4.0 GPA and hopes to major in Operation and Supply Chain Management.
 
"Amber will be a great addition to this team. Her positive attitude and hard work ethic will fit right in with the Vandals," Goodson said. "She has a lot of tournament experience which has prepped her to play collegiately, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for her here at Idaho. We could not be more thrilled for her to join us next fall."
 
The Vandals have completed their fall schedule and are back in action in February at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate.
