MOSCOW, Idaho - The Idaho women's tennis team has been on a tear this season.
Currently, the Vandals are riding an eight match win streak dating back to early February, including wins over Seattle U, Wyoming, Pacific, and a 2-0 start to Big Sky play. This streak has even gotten the attention of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association who placed the Vandals at #73 in out of all D1 tennis programs in the country earlier this year.
But the work continues as Idaho has two more matches within the comforts of the P1FCU Kibbie Dome before going on the road for the rest of the season. First, on Friday, the Vandals will host the Weber State Wildcats, set to commence at 11:00 AM.
The Wildcats have yet to win a match this season, and sit at 0-13 overall. However, they have shown steady improvement over the course of the year, playing both Portland State and Idaho State to 3-4 nailbiters in their last two matches, proving that no opponent is worth overlooking in the Big Sky.
Following this, Idaho will host their final home match of the season, as Northern Arizona will travel to Moscow on Saturday, March 15.
The Lumberjacks are among the top of the Big Sky standings right now, holding a 7-3 record overall and, like the Vandals, a 2-0 start to conference play. NAU has claimed a 4-1 win over New Mexico, a road sweep over Idaho State, and a 6-1 rout over Montana State in the last month.
Saturday will also serve as senior day, with
Selin Sepken and
Annabel Davis being recognized for their Idaho careers throughout the action. Sepken transferred to UI from Long Island University in 2022 and has finished with a winning record in overall singles in each of her three years in Moscow. The senior has also received multiple awards throughout her career, including two nominations to the Big Sky All-Academic Team in 2023 and 2024.
Davis is also finishing her three-year Vandal career after coming over from Northern Arizona. She has represented the Vandals for multiple years in the #1 singles spot, earning first-team all-Big Sky honors in 2022-23. The UK native also earned a nomination to the conference all-academic team in 2023, demonstrating her commitment to the court, the university, and the community.
Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
