Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif.— The Idaho men's tennis team returns from a successful weekend in San Diego, extending its four-game win streak.
The Vandals were initially set to begin the week facing off against UC San Diego but due to weather constraints, the match was postponed.
Idaho battled in a head-to-head match with San Diego State. The Vandals initially fought an uphill battle after San Diego State took the lead early on by securing the doubles point. With an appetite for victory,
Gabriel Moroder quickly responded, taking a win in the first singles match 6-2, 6-4.
Chetanna Amadike followed, securing another win under the Vandals' belt 6-3,6-2. Carrying the momentum from his teammates,
Francisco Gay locked in another win 7-5, 6-3 extending the team's lead to 3-1.
The Aztecs did not go down easily, as they fought back, taking the two following matches. Despite San Diego's fight,
Sebastian Medica clinched the final match of the day for Idaho 6-3, 7-5.
After clashing with the Aztecs, the Vandals ultimately came out victorious with a final score of 4-3.
This marked the Idaho Men's Tennis team's first win over SDSU in program history. It was also the first time that any of the Vandals sports teams have beaten San Diego State since year 2000.
