MOSCOW, Idaho - On Monday, Idaho Basketball Associate Head Coach Brandon Laird was named to the seventh annual 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistants by Silver Waves media. 

Laird, in his third year with the Vandals as the Associate HC, is no stranger to being recognized as one of the top assistant coaches in the country. He received an invite to the Silver Waves Next Up Rising Stars Power Lunch last season, an opportunity to network with the other assistant coaches making waves in mid-major hoops.

Credited as one of the more prestigious media empires in college basketball, Silver Waves Media has been recognizing the best and brightest in college basketball since its establishment in 2020. Over 40 previous selections to lists such as the 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistants have gone on to become college head coaches.

The Vandals are coming off of an 8-5 non-conference slate in which Laird has received credit time and time again for ensuring the team had a gameplan for each opponent's strengths and weaknesses. This stretch included the opening the season with a win over Washington State, going 4-0 at home, forcing just the eleventh home loss for South Dakota State in the last ten years, and going toe-to-toe with Notre Dame in South Bend.

Now a two-time honoree from one of the best in the business at recognizing talent in the coaching ranks, Laird has had an undeniable impact on what has been the greatest starts to a season for Idaho in nearly a decade.
