Amadike Named Big Sky Player of the Week After Perfect 4-0 Weekend

FARMINGTON, Utah – Following a flawless 4–0 performance across singles and doubles play, Chetanna Amadike has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday morning.

Playing in the No. 1 singles position, Amadike opened the weekend with a gritty battle against the UTRGV Vaqueros, earning a 7–6(5), 6–4 win after prevailing in a tightly contested first-set tiebreak. He followed that performance with a commanding 6–3, 6–2 singles victory against the UC San Diego Tritons.

In doubles competition, Amadike remained unbeaten, contributing to a pair of 6–4 victories to cap the perfect weekend. His consistency at both the singles and doubles positions proved pivotal in Idaho's overall team success.

Head Coach Raleigh Grossbaum stated, "This is a great recognition of Chenny's success this weekend and gives a glimpse into his successes this entire year. His athletic achievements demonstrate that it's possible to be a student-athlete and excel in all areas. He is our lone senior, a team captain, does weekly community service, represents our team in SAAC, hosted our athletic department's award ceremony, is voted the highest for "character" and "brotherhood" by his teammates, and will graduate with a degree in computer science this year."

The weekly honor highlights the Idaho Men's Tennis team captain's impact as the Vandals continue to build momentum heading into the heart of the season.
This upcoming weekend, the Vandals look to take on Gonzaga who they beat in the 2024-25 season with a final score of 4-3 in which Amadike clinched the final match to give Idaho the Vandal Victory.
