MOSCOW, Idaho – Sunday afternoon in Spokane, Wash., the Idaho Men's Tennis team fell just short of victory 3-4 against #56 Gonzaga.

The Vandals came out of the gates with fire, setting the early tone taking the doubles point by winning on courts one and two. On court two, the pair of Chetanna Amadike and Gabriel Moroder took the victory (6-4), marking the fifth consecutive win for the duo.

The Canadian and Italian natives were not the only team to continue a winning streak as Idaho's Sander Paradis and Mikolaj Lis also added to their record tallying a five-match win streak by defeating Gonzaga's Jay Fairclough and Giovanni Branchetti (6-3).

Turning to the singles matches, Paul Janson sent a bombardment of serves down the court. The 6'7" German native delivered one ace after another, securing the first set. In a 6-6 tie break for the second set, the score sat at 6(6)-6(4) favoring Idaho, before the Bulldogs secured three points with each one deflecting off the net cord.

Meanwhile, in the number one spot, Amadike was looking to add another win to his singles streak. The senior captain showcased a dominant win, outpacing the Zag opposition and clinching the first two sets, 6-2, 6-2.

In court five, Paradis fell short in the first set, 4-6 against Tom Dunlop. Despite being bested in the first set, the Amsterdam native soldiered on. The freshman rallied to take a 7-5 set, tying it up. To finish it off, Paradis took Dunlop in a final set of 6-2.

Despite the grit shown by the Idaho Men's Tennis Team, the Bulldogs capitalized off the momentum set in the match on court five to defeat the Vandals.

UP NEXT: Idaho will travel to Boise, Idaho to play in the Boise State Tournament March 6th-7th, time TBD.
