MOSCOW, Idaho - Fresh off of securing the program's first Big Sky Championship since 1990, Alex Pribble and Idaho Men's Basketball are back on the recruiting trail, aiming to load up the squad for the 2026-27 season. The first piece of that roster has officially signed, and TJ Wal is headed for the Palouse to begin his collegiate career in black and gold.
Wal, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, is the latest top talent from up north to sign with the program. Regarded as one of the top 2026 graduates in Canada by Global News, he starred for Archbishop O'Leary Catholic High School, putting up massive numbers for the Spartans. This included a 61-point performance vs. St. Francis Xavier, a notable top-tier program in Alberta. Wal would finish his prep career as a standout for Overtime Elite's Jelly Fam in Atlanta. He would lead the team with 18.0 PPG, a top-ten scoring mark in the league, while shooting a 46.2% from the field and 52.6% from the arc. The Alberta native notably put up a 53-point outing in a September matchup with the OTE's Diamond Doves, proving he can score in bunches at every level of basketball.
Coach Pribble is thrilled to have the 6'7" Wal come to Moscow and make an impact for the Vandals.
"We are very excited about the addition of TJ," said the head coach. "He is a truly gifted player, with a unique combination of skill and size that will make him very hard to guard. He's also a tremendous young man, who is really focused on his development. He has huge potential, and we can't wait to get him to Idaho and get to work."
Wal marks the first announced high school commit of the 2026 class, and the coaching staff is committed to building a team prepared to run it back and pursue another Big Sky Championship in 2027.
