FARMINGTON, Utah – Idaho Vandals Men's Tennis team's Chetanna Amadike has earned his fourth Big Sky Conference Player of the Week nod, tying the most titles won by a Vandal in a season as well as in the Big Sky Conference.
He now sits at the top of the school history alongside Idaho Alumni Francisco Bascon, who won four Player of the Week titles in 2021. He also joins a three-way tie for the most player of the week titles in a single season in the Big Sky alongside Bascon and Kiryl Harbatsiuk from Sacramento State in 2010.
Amadike posted a perfect 3-0 weekend in Utah. The senior captain secured a win in the number one doubles spot with Gabriel Moroder against Utah. He shortly followed up the doubles point by securing a win on court one against Ken Dinh. Amadike took another win in singles a few days later against Weber State. He helped lead the Vandals to a tone-setting win against fellow conference foe Weber State, giving birth to a spot at the Big Sky Conference tournament.
With one match remaining in the regular season and his collegiate career, Amadike has cemented his name in Vandal history. "It feels great to have a place in the Idaho history books, this school has done so much for me, and it feels amazing to be able to give a fraction of that back. The only way we can give more back is to bring another ring to Idaho men's tennis," Amadike said. He now sits at 15-7 overall, and 5-1 in conference this season, competing in the one-spot in singles and splitting between playing in the one-spot and two-spot in doubles.
UP NEXT: Idaho will travel to Flagstaff to take on the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona on Sunday, April 19, at 11 a.m.
