Vandals Open Summit League Showdown at South Dakota

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho soccer hits the road this week for a two-match trip to South Dakota, opening the weekend against South Dakota on Thursday, before taking on South Dakota State on Sunday. The Vandals look to carry the momentum from the 1-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield into the Summit League showdown this week.

Idaho enters the trip with a 3-1-1 record after a strong start to the season. The Vandals have shown their ability to create opportunities on the attacking end while continuing to build chemistry and consistency throughout the lineup, giving the team a dose of well-earned confidence heading into the week.

The Vandals open the trip against South Dakota, which enters Thursday's competition with a 2-2-2 record. The Coyotes have faced a challenging early-season schedule and will welcome Idaho to Vermillion for the first match of the weekend. Idaho will look to control the pace of play and continue building a strong start it has put together through the opening weeks of the season.

South Dakota Goalkeeper, Cambell Fischer, has been a key piece of the Coyotes' defensive success, while the attack has featured contributions from throughout the lineup. Coyote freshman, Kinsley Pesicka, has been a difference maker, scoring two goals already, while returner Klarissa Vega, the 2025 Summit League Newcomer of the Year, continues to be an important piece of the attack. The Coyotes will look to bounce back at home after falling 5-2 to Wyoming on Sunday.

Idaho has shown its strength on the offensive end throughout the start of the season, finishing strong and creating scoring opportunities from across the lineup. The Vandals will look to continue that attacking success as they take on two strong opponents on the road.

Defensively, the Vandals have remained strong throughout the start of the season, staying organized and making it difficult for opposing teams to find space. Idaho will look to maintain that defensive intensity throughout the road trip while continuing to play with confidence on both sides of the field.

Following the South Dakota match, Idaho will travel to Brookings to face South Dakota State on Sunday. The Jackrabbits entered the week with a 4-1 record as they look to continue their strong start to the season hosting the Vandals.
