2014 Outdoor: Rothwell qualified for the NCAA preliminary round in the hammer throw and finished 22 in the event with a mark of 195-9 (59.67m)…earned a First-Team All-WAC honor for his third-place finish in the discus throw (149-6, 45.56m) and two Second-Team All-WAC honors for his fourth-place finish in the shot put (49-10, 156.19m) and fifth-place finish in the hammer throw (181-10, 55.43m)…helped aid the men’s team to a 2014 Western Athletic Conference Championship…won the hammer throw at the hammer throw at the Sam Adams Classic with a mark of 187-1 (57.03m).
2014 Indoor: Rothwell earned First-Team All-WAC honors for his first-place finish in the weight thorw with a mark of 59-11.75 (18.28m) and earned a Second-Team All-WAC honor for his sixth-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 46-6.75 (14.19m)…was a member of the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Championship team…won the weight throw at the UW Open (60-5.75,18.43m), Cougar Indoor (58-2.5, 17.74m), Idaho Open (57-5.5, 17.51m) and the WSU Open (56-10.25, 17.33m).
2013 Outdoor: Rothwell was a WAC champion and NCAA qualifier for Idaho as a junior...won the hammer throw at the Whitworth Final Qualifying Meet on May.14 with a toss of 196-4 (59.84)... took home the hammer throw title for the second-consecutive year at the WAC Championships with a toss of 198-9 (60.58m)...posted a career-best mark in the hammer throw at the Mt.SAC Relays on Apr.20 with a toss of 204-10 (62.43m)...placed first at the Vandal Jamboree on May. 14 (198-8, 60.56m), the Oregon Twilight on Apr.18 (201-7, 61.45m) and the War VI Team Dual on Apr.13 (197-3, 60.13m).
2013 Indoor: Rothwell earned Second-Team All-WAC honors at the WAC Indoor Championship meet for his sixth-place finish in the weight thorw (55-11.25, 17.05m)...also placed eighth in the shot put at the meet with a heave of 52-8 (16.05m)... placed second in the weight throw at the UW Final Qualifier on Mar.1 with a toss of 64-1 (19.53m)... placed first in the weight throw at multiple meets including the UW Open (62-4.5, 19.01m) on Feb. 10,the Husky Classic (62-10, 19.15m) on Feb.2, the Vandal Collegiate (61-10.5, 18.86m) on Feb.1, the Vandal Indoor (61-10.5, 18.86m) on Feb.1 , the Cougar Indoor (58-10, 17.93m) on Jan.26, the Idaho Collegiate I (59-1.5, 18.02m) on Jan.19 and the WSU Open (54-3.75, 16.55m) on Jan.11.
2012 Outdoor: Rothwell was a WAC champion and NCAA qualifier for Idaho as a sophomore … qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the hammer throw, but fouled on his three attempts at the meet … took home the hammer throw title at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 187-7 (57.18m) for his second career outdoor First-Team All-WAC honor … added a Second-Team All-WAC accolade with a mark of 149-6 (45.56m) and a fifth-place finish in the discus throw … also finished seventh in the shot put with a season-best mark of 49-5.5 (15.07m) at the WAC meet … took fourth in the hammer at the Mt. SAC Relays with a career-best mark of 196-9 (59.98m) … including his WAC title performance, won the hammer throw at six different meets and broke the 190-foot barrier five times during the year … hit a season-best 150-8 (45.93m) in a sixth-place finish in the discus throw at the WAR V dual meet on April 7.
2012 Indoor: Rothwell earned his first career indoor All-WAC First Team honors as a sophomore … posted a 57-8.25 (17.58m) to take runner-up honors in the weight throw at the WAC Indoor Championships … added a third-place finish in the shot put at the WAC meet with a season-best toss of 48-2.5 (14.69m) … won the weight throw at the Vandal Collegiate with a career-best 58-11.5 (17.97m) on Feb. 18 … took sixth in the weight at the Husky Classic on Feb. 11 with a toss of 55-9.25 (17.00m).
2011 Outdoor: Rothwell had a solid all-around season in the throws for Idaho as a redshirt freshman … earned first-team all-WAC honors with a third-place finish in the hammer throw at the WAC Championships after hitting 174-0 (53.03m) … added a second-team all-WAC honor in the discus after throwing a career-best 156-11 (47.83) and finishing sixth … took ninth in the shot put at the WAC meet with a toss of 46-11 (14.30m) … hit a career-best 177-5 (54.08m) in the hammer on Apr. 15 at the Mt. SAC Relays, then equaled the mark two weeks later at the Duane Hartman Invitational on Apr. 30 … hit a career-best 50-0 (16.59m) in a third-place finish in the shot put at the Sam Adams Classic on Apr. 2.
2011 Indoor: Rothwell earned a pair of second-team all-WAC honors for Idaho as a redshirt freshman ... took fifth in the 35-lb. weight throw and sixth in the shot put at the WAC Indoor Championships ... tossed the weight 51-11.25 (15.83m) and the shot an indoor career-best 49-7.25 (15.12m) at the meet ... set a career best of 53-2.25 (16.21m) in a second-place finish in the weight throw at the WSU Open II on Feb. 19
2010: Rothwell redshirted the 2010 indoor and outdoor seasons.
High School: Rothwell won both the shot put and discus state titles for Eagle High School as a senior in 2009. At the 2009 Idaho 5A state meet, Rothwell threw a personal-best 53-8.5 in the shot put and 175-5 in the discus to win that event by 12 feet. His 20 points helped the Mustangs take second in the team standings at the meet.
Personal: He is the son of Sam and Peggy Rothwell. He has one sister, Amanda. His major at Idaho is Mechanical Engineering.
