High School: Beard was one of the top high school pole vaulters in the nation. She finished the 2008 indoor season ranked eighth in the U.S. with a personal best of 3.83m (12-7) and ranked 18th in the outdoor season with a best of 3.85m (12-7.5). She cleared 3.83m and finished third in the high school elite division at the 2008 Pole Vault Summit. She won back-to-back Oregon 6A state titles in the vault in 2007 and 2008 and went undefeated at Oregon high school meets through her junior and senior seasons. She owns the Southwest Conference record and the South Salem High School records in the vault. She finished second in the vault at the 2008 Simplot Games and broke the Oregon state record at the 2008 state championship meet with a vault of 3.83m (12-7).

Personal: She is the daughter of Randy and Jeanette Beard. She was born Dec. 15, 1989 at Corvallis, Ore. She has one brother, Charlie. Her father, Randy, was an All-American gymnast at Oregon in 1980. Her intended major is Physical Education.
