Tennis court renovation going smoothly

MOSCOW ? The University of Idaho's tennis court renovation projects are moving along on schedule, according to Jeff Beaman, Idaho Director of Tennis.

The project, which started with the resurfacing of the four Administration Building courts in May, will give Idaho 10 regulation courts outdoors and two indoors and should be completed by October of this year.

After the Admin courts, the second phase of the court renovation this summer moved on to the Memorial Gym courts, which yielded just three playable courts during the 2007-08 season. Following the renovation, the facility will feature six playable courts for the upcoming year.

Beaman said that the six Memorial Gym courts will be ready for use by the tennis program, campus recreation and University classes by the beginning of September, while the final surface coat will be administered in October to complete the job.

In December of 2007, two of the nine indoor courts at the Kibbie Dome were also resurfaced with a newer, regulation surface to allow indoor practice and competition for the Vandal tennis teams.
