BOISE, Idaho ? The University of Idaho women's tennis team's 11-game winning streak came to an abrupt end at the hands on #38 Boise State on Sunday.

The Vandals fell to the Broncos 7-0 who boast two nationally ranked singles players and one nationally ranked doubles team.

“Boise State is a very tough team and one of the best we will play all season,” University of Idaho women's tennis head coach Tyler Neill said. “Playing without two of our regular starters in singles against a team as good as Boise State was just too much to overcome.”

Idaho fought hard during doubles but was unable to snatch a match from Boise State in any of the three matches.

“I thought we played pretty well in doubles,” Neill said. “Every one of Boise State's doubles teams is regionally ranked and we stood toe to toe with them in each of those matches.”

Maria Perevoshchikova held tough against #73 Pichittra Thongdach in their No. 1 singles match but fell 6-4, 6-4.

“I was impressed with Maria's singles match because her opponent is a very tough, nationally ranked player and Maria had chances to win both sets,” Neill said. “Her opponent was just able to come up with the big points at the right times to pull out the victory.”

Women's tennis' next match is against Gonzaga at home on Tuesday.
