No. 63 Idaho Sets Up Boise State Rematch

BOISE - Two days after losing by the smallest of margins to Boise State the No. 63 Idaho men's tennis team will get another chance to upset the No. 52 Broncos.

Idaho advanced to the finals of the Boise State Spring Break Classic by defeating Ball State and Cornell on a bust Saturday.

"We played really well today and advancing to the finals is a great accomplishment for the team," Idaho Director of Tennis Jeff Beaman said. "This is a really strong field so to advance to the finals is impressive."

In the first round, the Vandals disposed of Ball State 4-2. Lachlan Reed, Adrian Simon, Stanislav Glukhov and Alex Joitoiu won singles matches to put the game out of reach before doubles play was needed.

The second round was similar to the first expect with the doubles portion being played. Idaho fell in doubles but won 4-3 with Reed, Simon, Glukhov and Joitiou all recording singles victories.

Idaho lost to Boise State 4-3 on Thursday in a match that came down to the third-set of the last singles match.

"We are looking forward to having another shot at Boise State," Beaman said. "Our first meeting was as close as a tennis match can get."

The Vandals face No. 52 Boise at 11 a.m. at the Boise State Appleton Tennis Complex on Sunday.
