BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho men's tennis team couldn't keep up with No. 22 Boise State on Saturday, falling 5-0 in Boise, Idaho. Later Saturday, Idaho fell 4-1 to UC Irvine.
Against BSU, the Vandals won at No. 1 doubles, as Jose Bendeck and Artemiy Nikitin took an 8-7(8-6) win, but BSU took 8-3 and 8-4 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to earn the doubles point. Boise State went on to win at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles for the win. Filip Fichtel nearly won at No. 6 singles, falling 6-4, 6-7(5-7), 6-7(3-7). BSU also needed three sets for singles victories at No. 2 and No. 5.
UC Irvine won the doubles point against the Vandals with 8-5 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Idaho got its lone point in the match at No. 2 singles, where Bendeck beat Tyler Pham 6-1, 6-4, but the Anteaters won at Nos. 2, 5 and 6.
Idaho falls to 7-13 on the season with the losses Saturday.
