Bozeman, Mont. – With the Big Sky Indoor Championships whittled down to just two days, the Idaho track and field program looks to Bozeman to finish off the indoor season. The Vandals look to their seniors to continue to lead as they have made ripples across the conference all season.
The indoor championships will span three days, beginning this week on Thursday, Feb. 25 and finishing Saturday, Feb. 27 with events stretched across the course of all three days with the multi-events confined to just Thursday and Friday. The first event begins on Thursday at 9am while the final event is scheduled at the 3:50pm on Saturday.
Senior Ben Ayesu-Attah will compete in the meet as he owns the best 400m time in the conference over the course of the season at a time of 47.22 at the UW Invitational. He will also compete in the 200m. Fellow Senior Matt Sullivan will also display his talents during the meet in the Pole Vault as he holds the best mark in the conference this season at 5.23 meters. Kaizer Gillispie will join Ayesu-Attah in the 400m and will compete in the third heat of the prelims.
Idaho's Jesse Villines, Drew Thompson and Zion Stuffle will all compete in the 60m Hurdles. Thompson won't be done there, as he will also be competing in the high jump and the heptathlon. He enters the meet ranked fourth in the conference in heptathlon. Dusan Jevtic will also take part in the high jump competition.
Santos Vargas will be competing in the 1 mile run, while teammates Tim Delcourt and Drew Schultz will take part in the 3000m. Senior Nathan Stark will round out the distance competitors as he takes to the 5000m run and thrower Juan Medina will compete in the shot put and
On the women's side, sophomore Kolcie Bates will compete in, and holds the 9th best mark in conference for the women's weight throw at a mark of 17.63m. Bates will be joined in the event by teammate Lauren Cooper. Fellow thrower Adara Winder will compete in the women's shot put. Staying in the field events, Faith Eruwa will compete in the women's triple jump.
Meghan Palesch is slated to compete in the 200m while teammate and fellow sprinter Victoria Goetz competes in the 400m.
In the women's 1 mile run Idaho's Kinsey Gomez and Erin Hagen will run, while in the 800m teammate Marquita Palmer is set to race. Gomez will also run the 3000m along side Haile Raudenbush, Ally Ginther, Andrea Condie, and Sierra Speiker, while also running the 5000m with Speiker and Condie.
