As a member of Noxubee's state championship team, Barnett had 163 total tackles (137 solo and 26 assists) in 16 games. He also had 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks (-45 yards), forced four fumbles, had three quarterback hurries, and recovered two fumbles which he returned a combined 90 yards. Noxubee also won the state title his junior season and he was as much a key contributor as he was his senior year. He totaled 183 tackles (116 solo and 67 assists) in 13 games. He also had seven tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks for -29 yards, three forced fumbles, one interception, one pass defensed and on fumble recovery. As a sophomore, he had 11 total tackles (four solo and seven assists) as Noxubee advanced to the state quarterfinals.
