Utah State Downs Idaho

PROVO, Utah—Idaho men's tennis succumbed to Utah State, 5-2, on Saturday at the Brigham Young Indoor Tennis Courts. The loss is the third consecutive for the Vandals who return home for their next three matches.

Utah State jumped out to the quick start winning the doubles point. The Aggies scored wins on the No. 2 and No. 1 courts to begin play. Mark Kovacs and Lucas Coutinho scored a late 7-6(4) win in No. 3 doubles.

Utah State escalated its lead to 3-0, opening singles play with wins on the No. 3 and 2 courts. Idaho picked up its first point of the match with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win from Odon Barta in No. 1 play. USU claimed the match on the No. 4 court. Samuel Serrano defeated Kovacs, 7-6(7), 7-5, giving the Aggies the deciding 4-1 lead.

The Silver and Gold return to action on April 2, matching up against Portland State. Idaho will play its next three matches at home before closing out the season on the road.
