OGDEN, Utah –
Makayla Presgrave has been recognized by the Big Sky Conference for the second time this season, earning Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
Presgrave picked up a pair of shutout wins last weekend as the Vandals continued to climb the conference standings. She started out with a season-best eight saves in Idaho's overtime win over Idaho State.
Presgrave added three saves against top-ranked Weber State on senior day for her seventh shutout of the season. She also got the play started that led to the first goal of the game. Presgrave came off her line to grab a cross from Weber State and got the offense moving quickly, finding
Bridget Daley who took a couple touches and sprung
Kayla Watanabe for the game-winner.
It is the second time this year the Presgrave has been recognized by the Big Sky, after also winning the award during the opening weekend of Big Sky play. Presgrave is the only student-athlete to be recognized by the conference twice this season.
Presgrave has been having an amazing year. Her seven shutouts are the second most in a single season in team history, and her 11 career shutouts are tied for second. Her 1.00 goals-against-average this year puts her in the top-five in team history, while her career goals-against-average of 1.27 is the best ever at Idaho.
The Vandals head out to Southern Utah and Northern Arizona for their final regular season games of the year. With a postseason berth already guaranteed, the Vandals will be looking for a pair of wins to lock up their third Big Sky Regular Season championship in the last four years.
