OGDEN, Utah – After an impressive home opener on Friday, junior
Morgan Crosby has been recognized by the Big Sky Conference as the Offensive Player of the Week. It is the first such recognition for Crosby during her Vandal career.
Crosby netted two in Idaho's 3-1 victory over Grambling State on Friday afternoon in the Kibbie Dome. The first set the tone for the match, with Crosby lining up from 28 yards out and blasting a perfectly placed shot into the upper 90. Crosby handled her portion of the play with style, but it was the buildup from
Bridget Daley,
Myah Merino and
Maddie Haas that made it all possible.
Her second of the day came early in the second half. Again, the Vandal offense worked the ball around well, eventually leading to Merino laying off a pass to
Claire Johnson to fire in a shot from just outside the 18-yard box. The Grambling keeper was able to get her finger tips on the ball, pushing it into the crossbar, but Crosby was waiting on the doorstep for the tap-in to give Idaho the 3-0 lead.
The Vandals are back in action this weekend, with a trip out to Missoula to take on former conference foe, North Dakota, and Vermont. GoVandals.com will have more on the matchups later this week.
