ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Idaho women's golf made its 2018-19 debut Monday, at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. The Vandals sat atop a loaded field following the first round, but finished the day in 11th. The final round will start Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m. MT.

Idaho finished the day at 13-over (589; 287-302). The Vandals are two strokes back of the top 10 and 10 strokes out of the top five. Senior
Sophie Hausmann is tied for fourth at 4-under (69-71), shooting under par in each round. Hausmann tallied eight birdies and shot 4-under on the par fives.

"Our first round was really encouraging," said head coach
Lisa Johnson. "The second round was tough. We will learn from it and get better. Hopefully we can learn from it by tomorrow and move back up the leaderboard. This is a very strong field and it's the level we know we're capable of competing at. The first round proved it. Now it's time to be consistent."

Idaho recorded a team score of 1-under (287) in the first round to lead a field that includes seven teams who finished last season in the top 50. Sophomore
Valeria Patino was in first place, individually, at 4-under (68). Patino enters the final round tied for 25th at 2-over (68-78).

The Vandals will tee off the final round on holes 10 through 12 during the 7:30 a.m. MT shotgun start. They will be paired with student-athletes from UNLV and Iowa State. Live scoring is available at
