PORTLAND, Ore. – Idaho volleyball (12-12, 8-4 BSC) got back to its winning ways with a four-set victory over Portland State (9-14, 5-7) on Saturday night.
The win keeps Idaho in a tie for second in the Big Sky standings. Weber State also sits at 8-4. Northern Colorado currently leads the conference at 11-1 with three weeks remaining.
Kennedy Warren led Idaho with 16 kills while hitting .326. Four Vandals recorded double-digit digs, led by
Alaina Lacey with 25.
Idaho got up early in the first at 10-5, behind a 7-1 run. The Vandals continued to build from there, getting up by as many as eight on several occasions, and cruised to the 25-17 win.
Portland State got out to a hot start in the second and continued throughout. The Vikings took a 14-5 lead and never looked back, winning 25-17.
The Vandals responded in the third and jumped out to a fast 5-2 advantage. Idaho maintained for much of the set, before a run by Portland State cut the lead to 17-16. The Vandals locked in from there with a 5-0 run and went on to win, 25-20.
The fourth went back-and-forth, before Idaho took over with four consecutive points to make it 16-12. The Vandals stayed in control from there and took the set, 25-22.
The Vandals return home to take on Montana at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, in Memorial Gym.
