MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho student-athletes achieved a department grade-point average of 3.15 during the spring 2019 semester, the 11th consecutive semester with a 3.0 department GPA or better. Fourteen of Idaho's 16 teams posted at least a 3.0, while six teams improved their academic marks from the fall.

More than half of Idaho's student-athletes (188) earned at least a 3.0, including 47 Vandals who took home a 4.0 for the spring semester. Women's track and field student-athletes accounted for 12 of the perfect 4.0s. The spring 2019 Dean's List will include 101 Vandal student-athletes.

Women's cross country led the department with a 3.73 GPA as all 14 student-athletes recorded at least a 3.0.

Women's swimming and diving and women's tennis tied for the second-best grades in the department with matching 3.59 GPAs. The swim and dive program was highlighted by 27 of its 28 student-athletes achieving a 3.0 or better, including nine 4.0 students. Three women's tennis student-athletes recorded a 4.0.

Women's soccer registered a 3.56 with 28 of its 30 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 GPA. Women's soccer and women's track and field have each recorded at least a 3.0 team GPA in every semester for which Idaho has such records (since fall 2000). Women's swimming and diving has had at least a 3.0 team GPA in every semester since the program was reinstated for the fall 2004 semester.

In addition to the 12 perfect scores, women's track boasted 29 student-athletes with at least a 3.0, on its way to a 3.53 team GPA. Football paced the department with 33 student-athletes at 3.0 or better.

Women's basketball checked in with a 3.47 GPA, aided by three 4.0s and 11 student-athletes with at least a 3.0.

Men's golf recorded the greatest improvement, earning a 3.22 team GPA this semester after a 2.81 in the fall. Women's golf (3.37), volleyball (3.3), men's track and field (3.12), football (2.69) and men's basketball (2.52) also improved from the fall.

Men's cross country (3.24) and men's tennis (3.01) rounded out Idaho's contingent of teams at or above a 3.0.

Last week, 48 Idaho student-athletes earned a degree at commencement.
