OGDEN, Utah— Idaho women's tennis players
Marianna Petrei,
Maria Tavares,
Laura Spataro and
Marta Magalhães earned All-Big Sky Conference honors as voted on by the coaches.
Petrei was named All-Big Sky First Team Singles for the fourth time in her career after posting an 15-4 overall record and remaining undefeated in the conference with an 10-0 record. The Udine, Italy native has produced an illustrious career record going 40-0 versus Big Sky opponents during the regular season. The senior and three-time league MVP led the Vandals in the No. 1 slot all season.
Fellow senior Tavares nabbed first team single selection for the second time in her four years as a Vandal. She finished the season totaling 15 wins at the No. 2 spot with a 9-1 mark in conference play this season. The Porto, Portugal native recorded a 38-2 mark in Big Sky competition during her decorated four-year career at Idaho.
Petrei and Tavares were unanimous first team honorees.
For the second-straight year, Idaho's No. 1 doubles duo, Petrei and Tavares garnered All-Big Sky First Team Doubles honors. The pair went 14-4 overall and 9-1 league action.
To round out this year's All-Big Sky earnings, Spataro and Magalhães each grabbed a spot on the All-Big Sky Second Team Singles docket. Spataro finished with an 9-8 overall record boasting an 8-1 conference record at singles No. 3.
Magalhães logged an 12-7 resume on the season and completed the regular season with an 9-1 record with most of her wins coming from playing singles No. 5.
