Sophie Hausmann shot a 1-over 73 on the final day of the NCAA Women's Golf Cle Elum Regional Wednesday, at Tumble Creek Golf Club. Hausmann finished tied for 57th at 10-over for the tournament. She concludes her collegiate career as one of four Vandals to qualify for at least three NCAA Regionals.
Hausmann played her steadiest round of the tournament on the final day, recording one birdie and two bogeys to go with 15 pars. Her 73 Wednesday matched her opening-round score from Monday, sandwiching a second-round 80 to finish at 226. Her 454-hole total is tied for the ninth-lowest NCAA Regional score in Idaho history. Hausmann owns the lowest regional score in school history with her 215 at last year's NCAA Madison Regional.
The top six teams from the Cle Elum Regional advanced to the National Championship. USC, led by individual medalist Jennifer Chang, took home the tournament title. The Trojans will be joined at nationals by Washington, Northwestern, Arkansas, San Jose State and UCF. Individuals Kathleen Scavo (Oregon), Aneka Seumanutafa (Ohio State) and Ellie Slama (Oregon State) also advanced to national tournament.
Hausmann leaves Idaho as a two-time Big Sky Player of the Year, two-time Big Sky individual champion and four-time first-team All-Big Sky honoree. Throughout her time at Idaho, the Nottuln, Germany, native competed at numerous elite events including the 2018 U.S. Women's Open and the 2019 Augusta National Women's Amateur, in addition to a long list of international amateur events.
Hausmann will graduate from the University of Idaho Saturday, with a degree in business economics before beginning a professional golf career.
