Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho—The University of Idaho Women's tennis earned their third Big Sky win of the season, defeating Southern Utah 6-1, Saturday afternoon.
The Vandals won two out of three doubles matches, with the third going unfinished.
In the No. 3 spot freshmen
Nicole Horacek and
Andjela Todorovic defeated Alexandra Ngo and Paula Tascon 6-0 to begin doubles play.
Laura Spataro and
Maggie Chen defeated Jessica Stefan and Daniela Cozzi 6-2 in the No. 1 spot to clinch the point.
The Vandals won five out of six singles matches to clinch the match victory, 6-1.
Laura Spataro defeated Stefan 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot.
Melissa Huchet recorded a win in the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-3, defeating Zoe Tanti.
Maggie Chen added a win in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2, over Daniela Cozzi.
Freshmen
Andjela Todorovic and
Nicole Horacek helped clinch the match with wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 spot, 7-6, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-0.
"We started off good," said Head Coach
Babar Akbar. "We did well to take the doubles point and kept momentum going in singles. The freshmen played really well, which helped us a lot."
