Vandals Continue Big Sky Play In Montana This Weekend

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho men's tennis team will continue Big Sky Conference play this weekend with a pair of road matches in Montana.
 
On Friday, April 9, the Vandals will take on the Montana Griz at 12:30 p.m. in Missoula. Idaho will conclude the road trip on Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m. in Bozeman against Montana State.

Entering their second and third matches of the conference season, the Vandals currently sit at second place in the North division with a 1-0 record. Montana and Montana State are both tied for third, respectively, each with a 0-1 record. Overall the Vandals are 5-4 this season and 4-3 on the road.
 
In the new format this season the top two teams from each division will advance to the Big Sky Championships.

Bruno Casino leads the Vandals in singles wins on the season with a 6-2 record. Casino has played in both the No. 3 (5-2) and No. 4 singles spots (1-0). The Santander, Spain native has the third-highest win percentage in the Big Sky at .750. Alejandro Salvador Civera and Francisco Bascon also rank in the top-10 with a .667, and .625, win percentage, respectively.  

Last week against Eastern Washington, Casino earned a win in No. 3 singles and in No.1 doubles with his partner Bascon.
 
Bascon is second on the team in wins, boasting a 5-3 record, all coming from the No. 1 spot. Bascon picked up a No. 1 singles win, and No. 1 doubles win against the Eagles last week.

Casino and Althaf Dhaifullah lead the Vandals in doubles wins, compiling a 5-3 overall record in No. 2 doubles. Bascon and his partner Matteo Masala are 3-5 on the season from the No. 1 spot.

Bascon has earned Big Sky Player of the Week twice this season for his achievements on the court.

Montana is 6-10 on the season and 0-1 in league play. The Griz have dropped their last two contests but are 2-0 at home.

Montana State is 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the Big Sky. The Bobcats are riding a six-game losing streak but are 2-0 at home.
