Volleyball Takes Eastern Washington to Four Sets

CHENEY, Wash. -- The Idaho volleyball team (3-15, 0-5 BSC) dropped a tight four-set match to Eastern Washington (8-10, 3-3 BSC), 17-25, 19-25, 25-14, 19-25 Friday night at Reese Court in Cheney.

Freshman Olivia Gloeckner once again led the Vandals offensively. Gloeckner provided her spark for the Idaho attack, finishing with 13 kills on the night. She has reached the double-digit kill mark for the third match in a row and the sixth time this season. Her 11 digs in the contest was also a team-high, which is the second time this year she has recorded a double-double.

Outside hitters Allison Munday and Taryn Vrieling joined Gloeckner in providing double-digit kills, as the pair each hit 12 kills. It was the third match in a row that Munday reached at least 10 kills while Vrieling recorded her ninth double-digit kill effort this year.

The Vandals bounced back after dropping the first two sets by taking set three after limiting Eastern Washington to -.133 hitting percentage in the set.

Travel Morris, Julia Dickeson and Vrieling led the Vandals on defense, recording three blocks each. Idaho ended with a total of 13 blocks for the match.

For the Eagles, Sage Brustad and Alyssa Radke helped guide EWU to a victory. Brustad posted a match-high 18 kills while Radke had 13 kills.

Up next, Idaho continues on the road next week with a trip to take on Northern Colorado (Thursday, Oct. 20) and Northern Arizona (Saturday, Oct. 22).
