ALBUQUERQUE –  An impressive run at the ITA Mountain Regional came to an end for Francisco Bascon and Matteo Masala, as the pair finished runner-up in the doubles title match on Monday.
 
Bascon and Masala matched up against the No. 3 seeded Utah duo, Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac. Idaho took an early advantage taking the opening frame 6-4. Utah responded in the second with a 6-2 win to move to a third-set tiebreaker, where the Utes carried their momentum to win 10-3 and earn a match victory. 

The Idaho pair collected four victories throughout their tournament run, including an 8-6 effort over the No. 8 ranked doubles team in the country, Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Busleiman of Utah in the round of 16. A runner-up finish for Bascon and Masala solidified their spot at the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 2-6.
